Privacy Policy

Insight Ranking collects and processes data to produce category rankings of Shopify stores in Malaysia and Singapore. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how it is handled. It is written to comply with both the Malaysia Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) and the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA).

1. Data We Collect

We collect two categories of data:

Store performance data (publicly available). This includes website speed scores, theme information, presence of email capture tools, product catalog metadata, and app stack indicators. All of this is collected from publicly accessible web pages and free APIs (such as Google PageSpeed Insights). No login credentials, private dashboards, or non-public data are accessed.

Contact information (voluntarily submitted). When you submit a form on this site, you provide your name, email address, and store URL. This data is used solely to deliver the service you requested: your category ranking, quarterly ranking updates, or a response to your inquiry.

2. How We Use Your Data

• Store performance data is aggregated, scored, and published in anonymized category rankings. Individual store names are not published without consent.
• Contact information is used to send you the specific deliverable you requested (your ranking, quarterly updates, or a follow-up to your inquiry). We may also send occasional updates about new categories or methodology changes — no more than once per quarter.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

Under both the Malaysia PDPA and Singapore PDPA, our legal basis for processing contact information is your consent, given when you submit a form on this site. Our legal basis for collecting publicly available store performance data is legitimate interest — the data is already public and our processing adds value through aggregation and analysis.

4. Data Storage and Security

Contact information submitted through forms is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS) and stored in secured systems. We do not store payment information. Store performance data is stored in internal databases accessible only to Insight Ranking team members.

We apply reasonable security measures proportionate to the sensitivity of the data. Contact details (name, email, store URL) are treated as confidential and are not exposed in any published rankings or reports.

5. Data Retention

• Contact information: Retained for as long as you remain subscribed to our communications, or until you request deletion, whichever comes first.
• Store performance data: Retained indefinitely for historical trend analysis. Since this data is publicly sourced and non-personal, it falls outside PDPA data subject rights.

6. Your Rights

Under both the Malaysia and Singapore PDPA, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct any inaccurate personal data.
• Withdraw consent for us to process your personal data (which may result in us being unable to provide the requested service).
• Request deletion of your personal data from our systems.

To exercise any of these rights, email darren@insightranking.com with the subject line "Data Request." We will respond within 21 days (Malaysia) or 30 days (Singapore) as required by the respective PDPAs.

7. Cookies and Tracking

This site does not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking. We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party analytics platform that shares data with advertising networks. If we implement analytics in the future, it will be a privacy-respecting, first-party solution, and this policy will be updated accordingly.

8. Third-Party Services

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Form submissions are processed by Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare's infrastructure is subject to their own privacy policy. No other third-party services receive your personal data as a result of using this site.

9. Unsubscribe

Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. Clicking it removes you from all future communications immediately. You can also email darren@insightranking.com with "Unsubscribe" in the subject line.
